The Role

We are seeking an experienced Technician - Lubrication for a FIFO position on Lihir Island, PNG. Reporting to the Supervisor - Condition Monitoring, you will be required to carry out trade-level lubrication tasks throughout the processing plant. The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring that all equipment's are correctly maintained to meet necessary production and reliability targets and satisfy original manufacturer requirements.

The role will have responsibility to:
  • Carry out Lubrication work in accordance with NML's safe working policies and procedures and in compliance with manufacturers specifications.
  • Distribute and transfer / decanting of lubricants
  • Apply lubricants, perform oil sampling and basic analysis, adequately dispose of waste lubricant
  • Complies with lubrication schedules and routines
  • Report and investigate problems
  • Inspect lubricated equipment while conducting tasks
  • Use and care of storage, distribution, decanting, filtration and lubricant waste handling facilities


Essential criteria
  • Minimum level of Grade 10 essential
  • Mechanical Trade Certification essential
  • Minimum 3-5 years recent relevant work experience essential in heavy industry preferably within a mining environment; either through experience in a similar operation or Apprenticeship Program
  • PNG Driver's Licence - Class 6 essential or proven ability to obtain by time of employment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously.
  • High attention to detail with good time management skills.
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for report building


Desirable criteria
  • Relevant experience with rotating equipment, good understanding of lubrication and hydraulic system principles
  • Basic understanding of hydrocarbon chemistry and properties
  • Proficient in English with fluent verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound problem solving skills
  • Computer proficiency in SAP & MS Office suite


The Requirements
  • Must be open to FIFO in PNG.
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
  • Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
