Operations near and far

Located in the Great Sandy Desert in the East Pilbara region of WA, Telfer is a short two-hour flight from Perth. Working as a fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) operation, comprising of open pit and underground, you'll be working 8 days on, 6 days off lifestyle. While at site Telfer offers a diverse range of recreational activities including a gym, swimming pool, driving range, movie room, and refurbished communal eatery.

Who we're looking for

We are seeking a highly collaborative electrical or mechanical engineering team leader to provide operational direction to a team of 18 direct reports, ensuring our resources, capacity, and our capability are aligned to the work plans.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Managing and building a safe working environment for a team of electrical, mechanical, maintenance, reliability, condition monitoring engineers and technicians.
  • Ownership of the asset health and condition management program.
  • Responsibility for the Statutory and engineering compliance of our assets.
  • Accountability for the loss and defect management process and improvement activities, to deliver required asset performance and cost uplift.
  • Accountability for tactics management and improvement including reviewing the long-term maintenance strategies.
  • Supporting the material risk and process safety programs.
  • Supporting asset performance budgeting and forecasting processes.

To succeed and thrive in this role you'll come from a strong leadership background, with demonstrated experience working in the mining/heavy industry in a senior engineering or reliability position. We are looking for a competent communicator and influencer and someone who is familiar with working in a highly collaborative environment.

Other experiences and skills you will bring are:
  • Experience facilitating a process to identify, investigate, and monitor key reliability risks across a site.
  • Experience conducting engineering and asset integrity audits.
  • Optimising costs through budgeting, cost control, and the delivery of cost optimisation projects.
  • Have experience building maturity and defining and imbedding sustainable processes and short interval control practices related to the engineering, asset health and reliability discipline.
  • Exceptional communication skills and people coaching capabilities.

The requirement is to be engineering degree qualified for this role, with preference to mechanical as an advantage but not essential.
