The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Advisor - Mining Innovation & Automation for a position on Lihir Island, PNG. Reporting to the Superintendent - Mining Innovation & Automation, you will be responsible for providing communication and technical expertise to ensure optimal operation of MIA Systems and provide system users with ongoing day to day support. Also, to identify & deliver on opportunities to improve business process using Innovation and automation. You will add value by:
  • Providing day to day support and resolution of mining operational technology and pLTE issues to users in a timely manner.
  • Managing the service life cycle for all new and existing operational technology.
  • Ensuring pLTE client devices are precured and supported in accordance with Site and Corporate standards.
  • Monitoring information security by ensuring critical communications systems are continuously protected from cyberattacks, including hacking, viruses, ransomware, corruption, etc.
  • Managing system spectrum capacity and growth.
  • Monitoring and ensuring cost-effectiveness of deployed mining operational systems and remain current with emerging technologies.
  • Providing technical expertise for innovation and automation projects and where appropriate, projects run by other departments.


Essential criteria:
  • 3+ years relevant work experience essential.
  • Experience in a large mining or heavy industrial environment
  • Skilled in configuring Cisco switches and technical knowledge of network protocols.
  • Basic understanding of formal Project management skills, practices and methodologies
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.








Qualifications/Certificates:
  • Post Graduate qualification or relevant trade certification.
  • AXIS CCTV training qualifications.
  • Fibre Optic Splicing qualifications.
  • RFID experience highly desirable.
  • HPGPS fleet management experience highly desirable.
  • Digital Radio experience highly desirable.


Requirements:
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment
  • Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last 6 months
  • FIFO role
