Newcrest Red Chris Mining Limited has an opportunity for a safety-oriented, self-motivated Mine Engineer Co-op Student (Technical Services). Reporting to the Senior Mine Engineer (Short-Range), the Co-op Student will provide support in a variety of engineering activities. This position will begin in January 2022 for a fly in fly out opportunity at Red Chris mine in Northern BC.

Accountabilities:
  • Actual engineering duties are subject to change based on Company needs, but can span the following disciplines and their respective tasks:
    • Drill & Blast: Pattern design, QA/QC, reconciliation, etc.
    • Geotechnical Engineering: Routine inspections, instrumentation monitoring, etc.
    • Mine Engineering: Daily, weekly, and monthly reporting, including drafting, data entry, volumetric and variance analysis, etc.
    • Surveying: Design field layout and picks-ups, drone operation, data analysis, etc.
  • Assuming other duties and responsibilities as required in response to changing circumstance and the economic and physical environment of the Company

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Active enrolment in Co-op Bachelor of Science (or similar) BSc Engineering program
  • Prior experience in mine planning and field operations will be considered an asset
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision once familiar with requirements
  • Self-motivated and takes initiative; proactively looks for ways to add value
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Proven ability to multi-tasks and prioritize based on business demands
