We are now seeking expressions of interest from current Newcrest staff for the position of Metallurgist at Lihir Gold Operations (LGO)

You will deliver value by:
  • Driving and influence proactive safety behaviours within workgroups through visible leadership.
  • Ensuring all personnel, visitors and contractors comply with site and contractual HSE requirements and hold people accountable for adherence.
  • Planning work so that it can be conducted safely, and consider environmental conditions, nearby activities, the people and other resources needed to complete the work.
  • Actively participating in behavioural based safety programs, development of road maintenance within the area of control and Lead OHSE safety meetings.
  • Ensuring that all operators on the shift carry out isolations and issue safe work permits for maintenance work in accordance with the site Permit to Work system.
  • Regularly communicating with maintenance department on road maintenance performance and equipment issues.

Essential Requirements
  • 3 years' work experience in supervisory level preferably with a world class open cut mine.
  • A sound knowledge of all mining safety and operations areas including drill & blast excavation dewatering and road maintenance
  • Able to work in confined spaces and heights
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Sound planning, analytical, and problem solving skills including project execution / management experience
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training

Qualifications/Licenses:
  • Qualification in Mobile equipment
  • Minimum Grade 10 level education is essential
  • PNG drivers license essential

The Requirements
  • Open to PNG nationals only
  • FIFO rotation
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
  • Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
