Who we're looking for

We are currently seeking a safety-conscious and diligent Production Mining Engineer to join our Technical Services - Underground Planning department at Telfer.

Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, you will optimise recovery of the resource through accurate design of stope shapes, drilling plans and blasting plans to deliver the mine production schedule. In addition, your key deliverables will include, but not be limited to:
  • Ensure plans are designed and executed in accordance with industry safety standards
  • Support with the design of the stope drilling plans, vertical opening plans (VOP's) and blasting plans to optimise the stope design and ore recovery
  • Demonstrate accountability for the quality, timeliness, and accuracy of the designs, drill and blast plans and the sign off of those designs and plans prior to final release of the information to the Contractor, in order to minimise re-work
  • Prepare stope notes with the assistance of the Scheduling Engineer and communicate the design, drilling & blasting plans to key stakeholders
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to problem solving and continuous organisational change
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and "safety first" work culture

As a team focused, collaborative and results-driven Production Engineer, you will have exceptional time management, with high attention to detail and accuracy. Through your commitment to workplace health and safety, you will ensure QA/QC Audits, safety inspections and UG inspections are completed on a regular basis.

In addition to the above skills, you will also ideally have:
  • 1-2 years' experience in a Production Engineer role, within a large-scale mining operation (preferably underground)
  • Tertiary Qualification in Engineering (Mining)
  • Competent in the use of MS Office applications
  • Experience with Deswick or Surpac software will be advantageous

We are looking for a passionate individual who thrives on learning, with the ability to pick up new concepts. If you have experience with mining methods such as narrow vein, sub level mining or stoping, your application will be highly regarded.

Please note: This is a permanent full-time role at our Telfer mine site, FIFO from Perth on an 8 days on /6 off roster (dayshift only, 12-hour days).
