The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Electrical & Instrumentation Senior Engineer to join the Reliability & Compliance Team.This is a unique opportunity with a great deal of flexibility and autonomy to set your own direction and targets based on business requirements; working a flexible roster with travel to site and remote work options.

Reporting to the Principal - Engineering Assurance & Compliance, you will work across a wide range of fields providing electrical engineering expertise and lead electrical compliance across different departments (power generation and utilities, mining, ore processing, gold production, town & camps) to ensure all electrical plant and equipment comply with the relevant PNG acts, legislation and standards.

The purpose of this role is to:
  • Oversee electrical compliance, statutory/regulatory matters, site standards and policies
  • Develop Lihir electrical and instrumentation standards
  • Develop and carry out E&I Asset Inspections and Compliance audits
  • Lead, support and take ownership of E&I incident investigations
  • Provide clarity and leadership on E&I safety and statutory/regulatory compliance
  • Ongoing first party auditing on all matters regarding electrical/instrumentation compliance
  • Actively engage with electrical contractors to ensure that the desired level of workmanship and
  • adherence to standards is achieved
  • Ownership of site initiatives to improve E&I safety and legislative compliance
  • Assist Projects with Management of Change requirements
  • Assist with the development of Functional Safety standards and philosophy at Lihir

To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following criteria:
  • 10-15+ years of relevant on-site work experience is essential
  • A tertiary qualified Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering is essential
  • Previous experience working in a remote location in Australia or overseas is preferable and advantageous
  • Outstanding leadership, communication and relationship building skills
  • Strong background in providing electrical advice and guidance to several teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Sound planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Mobilisation Requirements:
  • Flexible roster with a combination of site based and remote work
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment and a police check
