The Site Maintenance General Foreman's role is to provide leadership, guidance, and expertise while ensuring safety and quality for the day-to-day operations of the Site Maintenance Team activities. This role will work closely with other departments to coordinate maintenance plans and activities.

Accountabilities:

Reporting to the Superintendent - Site Maintenance, duties will include but are not limited to:

Technical Accountabilities, Scheduling and Planning accountabilities
  • Working in partnership with the Planning team assists to create short, medium, and long-term infrastructure maintenance strategies, including but not limited to, buildings, roads, tailings piping to align with business objectives.
  • Meets weekly execution schedule compliance. Develops and implements schedules and procedures for safety inspections and assists planning section with preventive maintenance programs.
  • Ensure resources and systems are in place to effectively manage pit dewatering and Mill to TIA transfer.
  • Oversees equipment rental maintenance and strategy.
  • Executes cost saving initiatives into the operation and manages expenditures in-budget, and maintain budget targets.

Safety & Health accountabilities
  • Provides leadership in health, safety, and environmental management systems, and ensures adherence to all applicable legal regulations, in line with Newcrest standards and industry leading practices.

Leadership, People & Development accountabilities
  • Signs, monitors, and reviews tasks/work assignments, delegates as appropriate, provides regular and ongoing feedback, instruction, coaching, mentoring, guidance, and direction to personnel.
  • Provides support, direction, and supervision to key Business Partners as needed.
  • Identifies and actively takes part in developing high-potential (HiPo) personnel for career development or succession, ensuring competency/skills gaps are addressed, development plans and resources are in place.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Degree in Applied Science OR equivalent trade experience (such as Interprovincial Red Seal Tradesperson Certification)
  • 3-5 years of supervision experience at a large-scale operation
  • Demonstrated competencies towards safety and environmental acts, and legislation related to mining operations
  • Strong interpersonal skills, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products and Sharepoint
  • Effective problem-solving skills with a results-oriented approach
  • Experience working at a remote work site is considered an asset
