Globe 24-7 in partnership with Newcrest Mining, is working together to source experienced and qualified talent to join their Mining - Crushing & Conveying team at their Lihir Gold Operations (LGO) in Papua New Guinea.

The Role

Reporting to the Supervisor - Crushing & Conveying- you will be required to be with a team that monitors and oversees the day-to-day activities of the Belt splicing technicians to effectively carry out maintenance work on all equipment associated with the Process Crushing area.

The role will have responsibility to:
  • Carries out daily housekeeping tasks, tasks and general works as directed by immediate Supervisor in the process areas of Crushing and ensures that all safe working procedures are observed.
  • Ensures all works for the shift (inspections, identifying defects, system verifications, routine schedules, SOP's etc.) are completed within all safety, environmental and company compliance processes and guidelines.
  • Operates process plant equipment as directed completing Daily Plans & Work Inspections advising immediate Supervisor of the need for Work Notifications for any defects or hazards found in the area.
  • As directed, undertakes regular inspections of all plant areas of responsibility.
  • Participates in skills training, shift handover communications, toolbox meetings and any other activities as required by the Supervisor.


Essential criteria
  • Exposure to Belt splicing and use of Vulcanisers
  • Working at Heights Certification
  • Confined Space Controller Certification
  • Minimum level of Grade 10 education.
  • Certificates I, II or III Belt Splicing.
  • Class 6 and "C" licenses or able to obtain
  • Certificate in Workplace Assessment and Training or similar.



Desirable criteria
  • 3 - 5 years relevant work experience essential in heavy industry preferably within a mining environment; either through experience in a similar operation or through progression as an NML Trainee Operator.
  • Good verbal & written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously from time to time.
  • High attention to detail with good time management skills.
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills.


The Requirements
  • Must be open to FIFO in PNG.
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
  • Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
