The Role

We are seeking a Senior Specialist Fleet Business Services for a FIFO (21/14) position at Lihir Gold Limited in Papua New Guinea. Reporting to the Superintendent - Fleet Engineering you will support this individual and team and provide departmental support for business administration, contract management, staff training and development, safety leadership development.

Production Accountabilities
  • Manages the contracted vendors to ensure regular reporting against and compliance to KPI's.
  • Regularly convenes contractor meetings to review performance and address variances to KPI compliance, and escalates appropriately where necessary.
  • Assesses and approves applications for contract variances
  • Ensures contract vendors invoices are in conformance with the terms of contract.
  • Conducts audits on works to ensure a reasonable amount of time and materials are being recorded and invoiced.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, including completing updates to internal documents as required.
  • Adhere to the Newcrest Code of Conduct and the Newcrest Values and Principles
  • Manages the schedule and resources for internal training and development programs

Cost Accountabilities
  • Delivers work within approved budget managing any variances in accordance with escalation process.
  • Actively seeks cost reduction opportunities.

Health & Safety Accountabilities
  • Ensures Contractor has a current Safety Management Plan, it is updated in accordance with active risk register and that the Contractor implements and applies the SMP.
  • Ensures Contractor personnel compliance with all company HSE requirements & policies including Fitness for Work when working on Lihir site.
  • HSE tasks are only carried out onsite if the hazards and any potential consequences are understood and any corrections are firstly agreed by the relevant Supervisor.
  • Coaching and mentoring of Newsafe behaviours with particular focus on internal opinion leader program.

Technical Capabilities
  • Work in accordance with PNG Mine Safety Act, Newcrest Safety System, Safety Policies and Procedures and Newcrest Environment policies and all departmental operating procedures.
  • Ability to negotiate commercial terms with diverse stakeholders (essential)
  • Strong understanding of business processes and the ability to apply system improvements for efficiency gains

Skills, Qualifications and Experience
  • 3 - 5 years relevant work experience essential in managing vendor contracts preferably within a mining environment or related industry.
  • Proficient in English with excellent verbal, written communication and public speaking skills. ยท Computer proficiency in MS Office suite including MS Word & Excel.
  • Sound planning, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously from time to time.
  • High attention to detail with good time management skills.
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience with SAP
  • Contract Management (desirable)
  • Diploma or certificate in a related field (desirable)

Mobilisation Requirements:
  • This is a FIFO role at Lihir Gold Limited, 21 days on 14 days off roster
  • Ability to provide/obtain valid PNG national police clearance
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment
