We offer several designated marshalling points within BC including Nanaimo, Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops, Williams Lake, Prince George, Smithers, and Calgary, AB.

The core purpose of this role is to:
  • Provide supervision of the Energy and Operational Technologies Department to implement and sustain the technology systems required to achieve safe and effective production in mining and ore processing areas
  • Coordinate and contribute to the design and engineering of control & communications systems across site including the Distributed Control System, MineStar and other mobile fleet systems, 2-way radio, and other wireless communications and network systems.
  • Oversee maintenance support of all E&OT systems
  • Oversee energy GHG emissions management projects, overall energy management, and the electric utility contract between NRCML and BC Hydro
  • Support Reliability Engineering, Maintenance and Asset Management Best Practice
  • Improve the reliability of critical assets and drive continuous improvement of critical assets
  • Provide technical and statutory guidance and support to site
  • Work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure the automation systems are aligned with site requirements.


We are seeking (1) individual for a Fly In, Fly Out opportunity working on a two weeks in, two weeks out rotation.

Accountabilities:

Technical Accountabilities:
  • Ensure the safety, reliability and cost efficiency of site-wide control systems, radio communications, and Mining Technology systems.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and guidance to the Energy and Operational Technologies team.
  • Conduct performance evaluations to identify operational limitations and initiate steps to enhance system performance.
  • Ensure sufficient spares are available and maintained for critical equipment.
  • Ensure critical equipment has redundancy or is backed-up and is protected from fire or other threats.
  • Statutory systems are maintained, audited, and treated according to the relevant legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with change management procedures with bridge logs and registers kept up to date and audited regularly.
  • Maintenance and operation of control and communications infrastructure and assets.
  • Delivery of robust, cost-effective engineering solutions, compliant with site standards.
  • Provide technical support, guidance, and coaching to site personnel on systems, statutory compliance and technical matters related to operational technology equipment; and,
  • Solve problems and investigate innovative solutions.


General Accountabilities:
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to your direct team.
  • Report diligently to manager & senior leadership team on any critical activities.
  • Stand-in for the manager when required.
  • Management of contracts and contractors under your control including budgets, timelines, support visits, and safety performance; and,
  • Provide project management/support for capital projects.




Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in a mining or heavy industry environment.
  • Electrical/Electronics/Computer Systems Engineering qualification.
  • Thorough understanding of Emerson DeltaV DCS, Rockwell PLC's, Communications and Radio frequency systems, Networking, and
  • Computer literate and advanced skills in the Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, MS Project, PowerPoint, Outlook, SAP)
