We are seeking an experienced Technician - Dogging for a FIFO position on Lihir Island, PNG. Reporting to the Supervisor - Mechanical, you will be responsible of directing the movements of loads handled by cranes when the crane operator may be unable to see the load or its destination.

The Role
We are seeking an experienced Technician - Dogging for a FIFO position on Lihir Island, PNG. Reporting to the Supervisor - Mechanical, you will be responsible of directing the movements of loads handled by cranes when the crane operator may be unable to see the load or its destination.
The role will have responsibility to:
- Ensures personal and team compliance with all company HSE requirements & policies including Fitness for Work.
- Completes any HSE tasks only if the hazards and any potential consequences are understood and any corrections are firstly agreed by the relevant Supervisor.
- During the lift you are to focus on assisting the crane operator in the safe movement of the crane to achieve the task.
- Ensuring the load is rigged safely, that slings, chains, or wires are in date, and remain within the working load limit throughout the lift.
- Ensure all clutches are connected correctly, that lifting points are suitable and that the load is moved in a safe manner
- The dogman is responsible for the safe rigging of the load and directing of the lifting and placing operations by the crane.
Essential criteria
- Minimum level of Grade 10 education essential
- Certificate in Dogging/Rigging from a recognized school in PNG
- 3-5 years post trade work experience essential in mining and or heavy industry essential.
- PNG Driver's Licence - Class 6 & 7 essential.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously.
- High attention to detail with good time management skills
Desirable criteria
- Relevant equipment license, Forklift Operator License, Working at height and Overhead Gantry Crane Qualifications (highly desirable).
The Requirements
- Must be open to FIFO in PNG.
- Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
- Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
