About You

Our ideal applicant holds a BSc or higher in Geology or Relevant Earth Science with solid experience within the mining industry. Competency in all aspects of underground operations and strong production & reconciliation skills are essential for this role. As well as 3D modelling skills using Vulcan and Leapfrog, understanding of structurally controlled gold & copper mineralisation would be advantageous. Through excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach, you will work seamlessly with various stakeholders to achieve the required operational outcomes and can motivate yourself to complete tasks to deadline and produce excellent results.

We are seeking a Senior Production Geologist to join the Telfer Geology team. The Production & Reconciliation team, a sub-group of the Telfer Geology team, is responsible for supporting both Open Pit and Underground Operations.

Reporting directly to the Geology Superintendent - Production & Reconciliation, your responsibilities will include:
  • Contribute to the work-related health and safety performance of all Technical Services employees, contractors, visitors, and stakeholders through active promotion and practicing of Newcrest Newsafe behaviours.
  • Drive the development of geology function and maintenance of geology systems and standards, including:
    • Ensuring work is completed to the required quality and specification
    • Assay quality assurance and control including regular laboratory audits
    • Site-wide mine-to-mill and resource-reserve reconciliation
    • Sound geology procedure implementation to support production activities
    • Effectively communicate any risks to the monthly and quarterly plan, using data analysis
    • Providing guidance to operational teams in terms of grade and quality performance trends, through engagement forums involving all key production leads
  • Demonstrate technical and conceptual excellence in anticipating problems and guiding the team to deliver on departmental goals by:
    • Support the Superintendent - Production & Reconciliation in understanding metal risk to the plan and provide de-risking opportunities without compromising the mine plan or schedule
    • Contribute to delivery of planned business outcomes in Telfer Operations through monitoring and auditing performance
  • Develop a sound understanding of the Telfer Geology system to support the Telfer Geology team.

This is a permanent position that will work on a FIFO (8/6) roster. Point of Hire is Perth.
