Who we're looking for

We are currently seeking a Plant Metallurgist to join our Mill Operations team for a 12 month temporary period. Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist, you will be focussed on improving the metallurgical and operational performance of an assigned area of the Red Chris Mill Operations plant.

This is a temporary, 12 month term role working with our Mill Operations Team.

Fly In, Fly Out opportunity working on a two weeks in, two weeks out rotation.

The successful candidate will provide metallurgical support to the Mill Operations team within grinding, flotation, or dewatering while assisting in driving continuous improvement projects with a focus on safety, throughput, or recovery.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Develop detailed understanding of the process flow sheet and operation of the assigned area of the process plant
  • Mentoring mill operation production operators in the optimal operation of the assigned area of the process plant
  • Complete daily metallurgical accounting and mill operations reporting of KPIs
  • Liaise with geologists and mine planners on daily ore reviews to optimize performance in the plant
  • Assist with delivery of budget revenue by meeting or exceeding gold and copper production targets
  • Assist with minimising Red Chris mill operations cost base by strategically minimising media and reagent consumption. Maintain discipline by accurate reporting of consumption rates
  • An active involvement in processing plant commissioning tasks, providing robust product for the operations team, and delivering on expected performance gains
  • Identification and rapid implementation of improvement opportunities, actively seeking opportunities for increased free cash flow and reduced costs
  • Conducting equipment inspections and escalating issues through to metallurgy, operations, maintenance, and planning teams
  • Prepare scopes and carry out laboratory and plant test work as required

Qualifications & Experience
  • A strong commitment to safety
  • Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering
  • Proven experience in mineral processing operations
  • Ability to engage. mentor and motivate colleagues and teams
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with data driven decision-making mindset
  • Attention to detail, problem solving and trouble shooting ability
  • A commitment and passion for continuous improvement
