The Role

We are seeking a Senior Engineer - Mechanical Compliance to provide Mechanical Engineering expertise to the Power and Utilities - Mechanical team in ensuring that all mechanical plant and equipment comply with he relevant PNG acts, legislation and standards. Your scope of duties will include but not be limited to below:

Safety
  • Drives and influence proactive safety behaviours within workgroups through visible leadership
  • Ensures all personnel, visitors and contractors comply with site and contractual HSE requirements and hold people
  • accountable for adherence.

Production
  • Owns and manages the mechanical plant and equipment compliance register, ensuring that all mechanical plant and
  • equipment requiring compliance tracking is accurately recorded, updated and tracked.
  • Ensures relevant mechanical plant and equipment requiring inspection and testing are inspected and tested by
  • approved/competent technicians, with associated documentary evidence filed and maintained in accordance with
  • established procedures.
  • Ensures new mechanical plant and equipment with compliance obligations are included into the compliance register and
  • inspected, tested and maintained according to established procedures.
  • Ensures contractors conducting inspection/testing of mechanical plant and equipment are competent and that the vendor
  • is authorised to conduct such work.

Budget
  • Authorise expenditure of budgeted funds to the limit of delegation, including approval for payment.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience
  • Tertiary Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering essential.
  • Ideally 12+ years relevant work experience in a large-scale mineral processing/mining operation essential. Minimum of 8 years essential.
  • IEPNG Engineer Membership to be completed as part of Work Permit process.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with compliance management of relevant mechanical plant and equipment in accordance with relevant acts, legislation or standards.
  • Maintains currency with standard and legislation regarding compliance of mechanical plant and equipment.
  • Previous experience working in a remote location in a developing country advantageous, but not essential.
  • Proficient in English with excellent verbal, written communication and public speaking skills.

Computer proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Sound planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training

Mobilisation Requirements
  • This is a fly in fly out role
  • Ability to provide/obtain valid police clearance valid within last six months
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment
