Overview

A permanent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Shutdown Scheduler to join our Fixed Plant Shutdown Department at Telfer, FIFO from Perth.

Reporting to the Shutdown Co-Ordinator, the aim of this specialised role is to ensure equipment's availability and reliability between shutdown campaigns. The shutdown scheduler plays a pivotal role in improving efficiency for the shutdown execution team, therefore aiding in the total reduction of maintenance cost and increased output of product, in-line with Newcrest's Processes and Procedures.

The key responsibilities are to:
  • The improvement of shutdown execution safety & productivity
  • Coordination of labour, parts and equipment access
  • Facilitating the work prioritisation process in order to minimise risks to the business and to reduce equipment downtime
  • Provide leadership in the execution & adherence to the Maintenance Business Process (MBP) and Shutdown MOS
  • Assist in the maintenance of SAP master data in the system, to ensure that efficiency gains are obtained as part of the continuous improvement process
  • Ensure compliance with Newcrest Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental Policies & Procedures and encourage others
  • Actively coach other members of the Maintenance, Operations & Engineering teams in the MBP
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Execution and Operations teams in the scheduling, and coordinating of all planned shutdown activities
  • Work closely with the expediting team & the material technician in order to ensure that parts are delivered and kitted & staged properly prior to the start of each shutdown
  • Review Maintenance Metrics & KPIs with the execution team to identify areas for improvement and implement changes
  • Lead shutdown planning meetings with all key stakeholders
  • Monitor and track shutdown execution progress during the shut period
  • Assist in the creation of the Daily Shut Progress Reports during the shut and also Shutdown Close Out Reports
  • Prompt reporting of all incidents and hazards
  • Prioritise high priority tasks with urgency
  • To ensure compliance with Newcrest Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental policies & procedures

This is a permanent fulltime opportunity on an 8/6 roster - FIFO from Perth.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will enjoy working in a team environment to ensure that the mining process and maintenance activities align. You will value innovation and continuous improvement.

In addition, you will ideally possess:
  • Trade or Engineering qualifications as well as sound experience in maintenance planning and scheduling activities for fixed plant equipment
  • Demonstrated work management experience, preferably in the Mining and Minerals processing, Oil & Gas or heavy industries
  • Intermediate or Advanced usage of MS Project essential
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP, Excel and Word essential
  • Ability to communicate effectively (Verbal and Written) at all levels
  • Ability to run meetings with key stakeholders
  • Attention to detail
