Role Purpose:

The Senior Mining Engineer (Short-Range Planner) will lead the Short-Range Planning and Drill & Blast Engineering Team to provide aligned, consistent, high-quality short-range mine plans to support surface production. This role is also the Second In Charge (2IC) for the Mine Planning Lead role.

We are seeking an individual for a Fly In, Fly Out opportunity working on a two weeks in, two weeks out rotation.

Accountabilities:

• Safety In Design with an emphasis on safe open-pit production
• Lead the short-range planning and drill and blast engineering functions
• Delivery of robust weekly and 3 month plans that deliver efficiency and value
• Accountable for provision of guidance and technical support to Operational and Technical staff in support of executing developed plans
• Accountable for weekly and 3 month plans being aligned with quarterly plans
• Accountable for the development of quality Blast Masters and integration into the mid-range plans
• Accountable and responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining procedures, Management of Change (MOC) processes and databases for all relevant engineering functions
• Accountable and responsible for commercial justification and contribute to business improvements that drive production improvements and cost efficiencies within the open pit
• Accountable for change management, risk assessments and approvals are completed as required
• Accountable and responsible for resolving conflicting stakeholder objectives as quickly as possible

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and the environment
• A Bachelor's Degree in Mine Engineering, or equivalent certified formal education
• 7+ years of Short-Range Planning and Drill and Blast engineering experience
• Proficient in the use of mine planning software (MineSight preferred)
• Proficient in developing activity / first principles based mine production schedules, including the use of mine production scheduling software applications
• Registration as a Professional Engineer, or able to become registered within 6 months in BC

Desirable:
• Short Range Planning experience in polymetallic open pit
• Experience as a mine operations supervisor
• Geology and Geotechnical engineering experience
• Formal leadership training and natural tendency to lead
• Underground drill and blast operational experience (not necessary)
• Previous experience working at a Fly-In / Fly-Out operation

• Conduct incident investigations and Root Cause Analyses (RCA)
• Strong understanding of the mine surveying function, from the field to the office, including limitations, bias and the technological systems involved
