Globe 24-7 in partnership with Newcrest Mining, is working together to source experienced and qualified talent to join their Asset Management, Reliability Department to support their Lihir Gold Operations (LGO).

The Role

We are now seeking expression of interest for an experienced Technician - Condition Monitoring for a FIFO position on Lihir Gold. Reporting to the Supervisor - Condition Monitoring, you will be responsible to carry out trade-level condition monitoring tasks throughout the process plant.

The role will have responsibility to:
  • Assists with building/modifying condition monitoring databases.
  • Carries out routine and on-demand condition monitoring tasks i.e., data collection.
  • Uploads and downloads data collection point routes.
  • Carries out basic data analysis with draft recommendations.
  • Uses and cares for condition monitoring and NDT facilities and equipment.
  • Carries out precision maintenance tasks in support of trade teams - alignment, balancing, fastener tensioning etc.
  • Assists with failure investigations.

Essential criteria
  • Grade 12 education essential.
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree highly regarded
  • 3 - 5 years relevant engineering and/or trade work experience essential in fixed plant maintenance in heavy industry, preferably minerals processing.
  • Demonstrates personal responsibility for own health and safety and develops an understanding of the legal requirements, HSE standards and standard operating procedures relevant to direct work area.
  • Understanding of basic minerals processing equipment componentry and function.
  • Knowledge of condition monitoring technologies and practices - vibration analysis, thermal imaging, acoustics.
  • Knowledge of non-destructive testing technologies and practices - MPI, dye penetrant, ultrasonic thickness testing etc.
  • Some knowledge of electric motor circuit principles and testing practices.
  • Ability to perform laser shaft alignment.
  • Recognises opportunities to minimise waste and addresses it according to the HSE and operational standards and practice.
  • Works well with others, listens actively, seeks inputs and asks clarification questions to check understanding staying focused and composed in a variety of work situations.

Desirable criteria
  • Certificated training in VA and NDT practices strongly desirable.
  • Trades Certificate in Mechanical or Electrical desirable.
  • PNG Driver's License.

The Requirements
  • Must be open to FIFO in PNG.
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
  • Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
