Globe 24-7 in partnership with Newcrest Mining, is working together to source experienced and qualified talent to join their Mining Team at their Lihir Gold Operations (LGO).
The Company:
Our client, Lihir Gold Limited operates one of the largest gold mines in Papua New Guinea 900kms northeast of Port Moresby on the tropical Niolam Island (Lihir Island). Committed to supporting a safe, diverse, and inclusive work culture, Lihir's mission is to deliver superior returns from finding, developing, and operating gold/copper mines whilst providing long-term employment opportunities. Lihir is a hard rock surface gold operation, ore is refractory and treated using pressure oxidation before the gold is recovered by a conventional leach process. The Role:
We are seeking a Technical Specialist - Processing to oversee all aspects of the preparation, planning, execution, and closeout of all grinding mill relining activities and associated mill liner and reline equipment management on site.
The ideal candidate must have a clear oversight of all manning, equipment, material, and logistics, to ensure they are being utilised efficiently across the grinding shutdowns.

We are seeking a Technical Specialist - Processing to oversee all aspects of the preparation, planning, execution, and closeout of all grinding mill relining activities and associated mill liner and reline equipment management on site.
The ideal candidate must have a clear oversight of all manning, equipment, material, and logistics, to ensure they are being utilised efficiently across the grinding shutdowns.
Other key accountabilities include:
- Liaising with all vendors involved to ensure clear communication and a high level of efficiency in service.
- Assist in developing accurate schedules that effectively incorporate all reline activities in planned and unplanned shutdowns.
- Assume a shutdown supervision role during the execution phase which includes attending and providing input at routine area update meetings that focus on critical path tracking.
- Work with the relevant support areas to ensure an accurate plan is developed and complied with for the mobilisation, accommodation, training, and demobilisation of the mill relining associated contractors.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
- 5+ years of demonstrated work experience in grinding mill relining / maintenance activities (essential)
- S 123 Site Supervisor (essential)
- Qualifications / Certificates in Mill Reline Machine & Liner Removal Tool operation (essential)
- Certificate in Workplace Assessment and Training or similar (desirable)
- Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite (advantageous)
- SAP experience (other CMMS systems) (advantageous)
Mobilization Requirements:
- This is a FIFO role.
- Ability to provide/obtain valid police clearance within the last six months.
- Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
