Located in the Great Sandy Desert in Western Australia, Telfer is a fly in out fly out operation from Perth which recognizes the importance of work-life balance. Who we are looking for

We are seeking a motivated and technically astute Control Systems Engineer to conduct day to day maintenance, troubleshooting and continuous improvement of process control systems across site at Telfer. Reporting to the Senior Engineer in Operational Technology, this challenging yet rewarding opportunity will see you provide frontline control engineering support to maintenance, production & engineering teams and ensure the automation systems are aligned with site requirements.

Key responsibilities of this role include:
  • Ensure safe, reliable and effective operation & maintenance of process control systems across site
  • Utilise domain knowledge to assist in Root Cause Analysis, process improvement and post incident investigations
  • Facilitate addition, removal and changes to process control systems
  • Ensure compliance with change management procedures with bridge logs and registers kept up to date and audited regularly
  • Execute routine preventative maintenance, checks, audits and patches to maintain the integrity of both hardware & software components of the process control system whilst working on minor improvement projects

As the ideal candidate, you will utilise your technical expertise and stakeholder management skills to provide robust, cost effective engineering solutions, compliant with site and Australian Standards and in line with industry best practices. You will understand FIFO Lifestyle and commitments, and will have values of honesty, integrity, and the ability to assume accountability align with those of Newcrest.

In addition, you will also ideally possess:
  • Electrical / Instrument Trade Certificate with automation specific experience or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Process Engineering or Mechatronics
  • Proven experience as a Control Systems Engineer with a background in Mining, Oil & Gas or Heavy Industry
  • Thorough understanding of Yokogawa Centum VP, Rockwell (Allen Bradley) ControlLogix PLCs and MicroLogix PLCs is essential
  • Previous experience with Industrial Communications Networks, OSISoft PI Plant Historian is preferred
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, MS Project, PowerPoint, Outlook, SAP)

Please note: This is a fulltime permanent role that will work on 8 days On/6 days Off roster.
