The Opportunity:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist - Talent & Capability to join our Vancouver Regional Office.

The successful candidate will primarily be assisting with planning, coordinating and delivering training solutions and development programs to include, but not be limited to: basic to advanced leadership development, change management, team effectiveness, early careers development program, and other related topics to enhance leadership and professional performance.

Leadership and Professional Development
  • Coordinates leadership and professional development programs that address capability gaps identified through the organisation's planning processes (i.e. Inclusive Leadership,
  • Managing Matters, Psychological Safety, etc.)
  • Builds and maintains partnerships and consultative relationships with leaders across functions
  • Works closely with HR partners across the region to ensure alignment of professional development skills to business plans, people plans, and talent plans.
  • Assists in identifying professional development opportunities for hi-potential employees and other leaders, including those new to role.
  • Measures training effectiveness

Learning Governance
  • Works closely with Manager, Leadership & Professional Development to ensure
  • alignment with global learning framework
  • Leads the implementation and monitors effectiveness of learning improvement initiatives

Learning Systems
  • Uses assessment tools and available company data to measure business and performance impact and ROI of learning solutions.
  • Consistently evaluates training approaches, platforms, materials and resources, to ensure they are effective.

Succession Planning
  • Partners with leadership to identify High Performing and High Potential individuals to build out succession plans and reduce business risks.
  • Knows and grows the capability and talent across the region and globally.

Graduate, Co-Op, Apprenticeship, and Early Careers Development Program
  • Facilitates workforce planning activities related to the Graduate, Co-Op, Apprenticeship and Early Careers Development Program in conjunction with discipline leads.
  • Partners with discipline leads, Site HR Managers, GMs to identify and cultivate the pool of future graduates.
  • Provides input for workforce planning activities related to the Graduate, Co-Op, Apprenticeship, and Early Careers Development Program to assist in determining yearly Graduate intake.
  • Builds capability for Newcrest's Graduates to thrive and excel which will increase capabilities and speed of development.
  • Works together with key industry groups and associations to ensure early careers strategy success.
  • Supports the ongoing development and retention of Graduates.
  • In consultation with group Remuneration and Rewards Team, determines program remuneration levels for the upcoming program.
  • Other duties as assigned commensurate with position

About You:

Any combination of training, education, and work experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, Adult Education, or a related field and considerable (5-7 years) professional-level work experience in training and development.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role with specific knowledge of organisational/leadership development.
  • Proven experience implementing, executing, and supporting leadership and learning programs.
  • Experience using leadership and adult learning principles to develop and design training that improves professional performance across the company.
  • Expert facilitator who possesses a strong presence and displays energy and charisma. Facilitates learning using a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as in-person, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, interactive online learning modules, virtual classroom, etc.
  • Ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships and trust with stakeholders through communication, reliability, and listening before offering helpful suggestions.
  • Understanding/exposure to HR practices, processes, and disciplines including talent management, change management, diversity and inclusion, organisational development, and strategic HR planning.
