Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area's occupied by wineries, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who we're looking for

As a qualified Mining Engineer, you will be key a member of the project team. Working closely with the Operations Superintendents, you will help lead the mining team in the safe and cost-effective delivery of our current and future caves.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Delivering the future caves of Cadia in a safe, cost-effective manner in line with milestone delivery dates and with an owners' mindset
  • Collaborating with site and key stakeholders to ensure shared outcomes are considered and adequately managed
  • Provide necessary inputs and support to the scheduling team
  • Updating and maintaining procedures and processes
  • Conduct risk assessments and assist in risk management
  • Chair the daily project performance meeting
  • Assist in co-ordinating and monitoring the performance of contractors
  • Provide coverage for Superintendents and Mine Foreman
  • Supervise Specialist - Drills
  • Develop and implement on-going continuous improvement initiatives

Our ideal candidate will have a relevant Mining degree qualification and worked in both scheduling and drill and blast roles. It will also be considered advantageous to have a NSW Mining Engineering Manager certificate of competence, or the ability to gain one.

We are looking for a team-oriented individual who has:
  • A strong commitment to workplace health and safety, and an ability to foster alignment and integration of key stakeholders to Newcrest safety culture and values.
  • A strong background in development mining, drill and blast, aswell as past experience in caving.
  • A strong commitment to business improvement and maximising performance through bottom up initiatives.
