We offer several designated marshalling points within BC including Nanaimo, Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops, Williams Lake, Prince George, Smithers, and Calgary, AB.

The Tahltan Human Resources (HR) Officer assists with the administration and coordination of Tahltan employment programs to increase Tahltan representation in the workforce to representative levels by providing Tahltan Members with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to be successful in a professional environment. The role will partner with the relevant site stakeholders and support the HR Department to drive the delivery of the HR strategy and maximizing the opportunities available to Tahltan Members.

We are seeking 1 individual for a Fly In Fly Out opportunity working on a 2 weeks in 2 weeks out rotation.


Reporting to the Superintendent - Human Resources, duties will include but are not limited to:


Demonstrates technical and conceptual excellence in anticipating problems, supports the team and plans to deliver agreed departmental and business goals to ensure the value of the business is maintained or improved:
  • Assists the HR Department with researching and administering Tahltan career development plans by identifying formal education, on-the-job training, and other opportunities for attaining relevant education or experience in the desired field
  • Coordinates the delivery of the Tahltan employment programs, including administering various daily administrative tasks
  • Develops quarterly and ad-hoc reports for the HR department, while ensuring the accuracy, timelines, and integrity of administrative paperwork
  • Conducts administrative duties for the Tahltan Members, including distributing agendas, recording meeting minutes, disseminating information, summarizing meetings, as well as developing relevant reports
  • Collects, tracks and organizes data with respect to HR Strategy, HR Inventory and contracts engagements (direct and indirect, as part of Tahltan Businesses and non-Tahltan Businesses) all with a view to properly identify the level of Tahltan involvement in the Project for the purposes of determining progress toward the Employment Objective and the overall goal of maximizing Tahltan involvement in the Project

  • Monitors own work performance against role requirement and receives and implements feedback to improve processes
  • Updates and upholds Personal Performance Plan in line with the HR Plan and Strategy

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Post-graduate, Bachelor of Human Resources, Commerce or Business Administration with Human Resource or Industrial Relations specialization or a related discipline and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience (desired)
  • Professional Human Resources Designation (CPHR) or equivalent is considered an asset
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Human Resources (desired)
  • Related experience in mining and an understanding of Project Management would be considered assets
  • Demonstrates people leadership skills, as well as critical and strategic thinking
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite of Products, Microsoft Teams, and One View reports
  • Experience with SAP and/or other HR software considered a strong asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong multi-tasking and proven ability to manage competing priorities based on business demands
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision once familiar with requirements
  • Self-motivated and takes initiative; proactively looks for ways to add value
