Newcrest is one of the world's largest gold mining companies. As a global business, we aim to create a diverse and inclusive environment where everyone feels safe, valued and supported to bring their whole unique self to work.

We recognise that our different backgrounds and perspectives help us find better ways to: solve problems; attract and retain the best people; explore, develop and produce more gold safely and profitably; and help make Newcrest a better place to work.

At Newcrest, we hold core values that focus on caring about people, working together and achieving a high-performance culture through innovation and problem solving.

As part of forging a stronger Newcrest, we are committed to developing our people. We recognise that building capabilities and creating career opportunities across our business is not only important for our people, but it is critical to our success now and in the future.

Reflecting that commitment, we are seeking a dynamic leader to spearhead our Health Safety Environment and Emergency Response teams based at our Lihir Operations in PNG.

Reporting to the General Manager - Lihir Operations, the focus of the role is to collaborate to develop the Health, Safety, Environment and Emergency Response strategies for Lihir and to drive implementation through technical and professional advice and support to achieve the company site and department visions. Key to the role, is your strong leadership of our NewSafe Behavioural Based Safety Culture program, together with oversight of robust risk identification, management and assurance systems and processes.

As a successful incumbent you will be an active member of the site senior leadership team, driving strategic and inclusive leadership of the Safety, Health & Hygiene, Environment, Emergency Response and Management Systems teams including the efficient and safe operation of the Lihir Medical Centre.

Importantly, as a leader you will proactively provide leadership and development for direct reports and the wider team, you will implement a development plan for Papua New Guinean team members aligned with the site nationalisation strategy and ensure Leadership and Safety Management continues to develop in line with the Newcrest Values and Practices.

As an ideal candidate, you will have at least 10 years' experience in Health, Safety & Environment leadership roles, ideally with strong site-based experience. You have an ability to work with multiple stakeholders across a wide range of disciplines and have a high level of energy and commitment. With strong teamwork skills, a willingness to share, partner and interface effectively with a broad set of stakeholders, a passion to learn, a genuine belief in the value of diversity and a desire to challenge traditional ways of thinking and working, you will enhance the value and outcomes of these functions for the business

If you are seeking a new career challenge, where you can transfer your existing skills, into a positive and empowering team environment, we'd love to hear from you!
