At Cadia you will play a part in the expansion of our Tier 1 operation developing Cadia into one of the largest, safest, most cost effective and technologically advanced block caving mines in the world.

Operations near and far
Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area's occupied by wineries, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who We're Looking For

As a Mining Engineer - Design, you will be responsible for the designs to enable the delivery of our future caves. Key responsibilities will include:

Technical / Operational
  • Delivery of properly completed and reviewed designs for establishment and growth of caves
  • Involvement and Management of stakeholders in producing POIs
  • Development operations technical support
  • Process safety - mitigation of major hazards through quality mine design and sequencing.
  • Application of lessons learned in design and execution processes and caving rules;
  • Collaborating with execution, stakeholders and the Integrated Planning members to maximise effectiveness and optimise delivery of the new caves at Cadia

People and Planning
  • Inputs into Weekly, RMP, Execution and Control Schedules;
  • Plan and prioritise work to complete deliverables on time and thoroughly reviewed
  • Continuous improvement - ability to recognize and influence positive change within the team


We are looking for a team-oriented individual who has:

Essential
  • A strong commitment to workplace health and safety, and an ability to foster alignment and integration of key stakeholders to Newcrest Safety culture and values.
  • Behaviour consistent with Newcrest values
  • An attitude of wanting to learn and personal improvement
  • Mining Engineer with >2 years of relevant experience in designing and operations, preferably with exposure to a large-scale underground mining operation
  • Effective communicator with stakeholders
  • Competent in the use of mining software packages - Deswik preferred

Preferred
  • Experience at caving operations - specifically during block/panel cave establishment
