Operations near and far

In the Great Sandy Desert in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia, our Telfer gold-copper mine is our fly-in-fly-out operation, comprising both open pits and an underground mine. While at site Telfer offers a diverse range of recreational activities including a gym, swimming pool, driving range, movie room and refurbished communal eatery.

Who we're looking for

We are currently seeking a safety-conscious and diligent Fire Systems Technician to support safe production at Telfer by ensuring reliable operation, maintenance and longer-term integrity of the site wide Fire Systems including Surface & Underground operations.

Reporting to the Fire Technician Supervisor, key deliverables of this role include:
  • Maintenance of equipment in a reliable and cost-efficient condition
  • Leading by example in adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Monitoring and reporting on status of Fire Systems and equipment, and ensuring statutory paperwork is kept to a high standard
  • Provide guidance to fire technicians short & long term
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement

To succeed in this role, you will have a demonstrated track record in continuous improvement of assets with competencies in Fire Detection & Alarm Systems, Gaseous Fire Suppression Systems & Sprinkler Systems.

In addition to the above key skills, you will also ideally have:
  • Proven experience in maintenance, commissioning, inspection or testing of fire of fire systems with exposure to large scale mining and process plant operations & maintenance
  • Good computer skills - proficient in SAP or similar computerised maintenance management system and Microsoft package
  • Sound knowledge of Acts, Regulations and Australian Standards
  • Sprinkler Fitter Trade, Electrical or Mechanical Trade qualification will be highly regarded
  • Willingness and the ability to work underground

Please note: This is a permanent full-time role at our Telfer mine site, FIFO from Perth on an 8 days on /6 off roster.

Your ability to communicate effectively and collaborate at all levels in the organisation will work towards achievement of desired outcomes and engagement of your team and key stakeholders. In addition to your finely tuned problem-solving and decision-making abilities, you will also have:
  • Certificate II in Fire Protection Inspection and Tagging
  • High commitment to safety along with excellent decision making and delegation skills
  • Computer literacy and understanding of SAP will be beneficial
  • Current C Class drivers' licence
