We offer several designated marshalling points within BC including Nanaimo, Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops, Williams Lake, Prince George, Smithers, and Calgary, AB.

This role will report to the General Foreman - Mining - and will ensure delivery of the weekly mine plan, with a focus on safety, total material movement and quality.

We are seeking an individual for a Fly In, Fly Out opportunity working on a two weeks in, two weeks out rotation.

Accountabilities:

Safety: Demonstrate absolute commitment and leadership in providing a safe working environment by:
  • Promote and maintain a culture of 'safe production' by compliance with company safety systems, policies, procedures, and accountabilities
  • Ensure all incidents, near miss and hazards are reported and recorded in CHESS; are investigated and closed out in a timely manner

Technical Accountabilities
  • Balance workload and make decisions in consultation with other stakeholders to achieve safe production outcomes as dictated by weekly and monthly plans
  • Comply with Newcrest Red Chris JV standards, procedures, policies and the Heath, Safety, Reclamation Code for Mines in British Columbia
  • Promote and actively participate in business improvements and ideas.
  • Undertake specific tasks as directed by the Superintendent - Mining.
  • Engage technical staff when required to undertake weekly and day to day operational tasks.

Scheduling Accountabilities
  • Monitor production progress against the Weekly Plan and take corrective action to achieve compliance.
  • Involvement in planning meetings and ensure alignment and delivery of all signed off plans
  • Proven ability to lead and promote change at all levels
  • Focuses safety leadership
  • Ability to identify the gaps in process, will also need to be able to roll out changes
  • Proven high-level Open Pit Shift Boss, will act as Superintendent - Mining on occasion

People Accountabilities
  • Provide leadership to team members through career development, coaching, training, performance management.
  • Engage the team to actively promote Hazard awareness and promote the reporting of Near Misses.
  • Display behaviour consistent with Newcrest's Code of Conduct and
  • Ensure all work-related Injuries and Illnesses are classified correctly as per the relevant Newcrest procedures
  • Lead Teams by example and focus on the Newcrest core values.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • 5 years open pit mining experience with a minimum 2 years in a supervisory roll
  • BC Open Pit Shift Boss certificate
  • Mine Rescue experience/knowledge
  • Valid first aid ticket
  • Drill and blast knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of site safety policies and procedures
  • Good communication skills
  • Working knowledge of MS software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
