About this Role

What will you be responsible for?
Responsible for the development and implementing a regional strategy for internal and external communication, and supervise the execution of the internal and external communication strategy and action plan at the different sites of the region.

Ensuring that:
  • Employees are advised, engaged and motivated to achieve the business objectives of the Region.
  • The company's reputation and image with its external partners is protected and improved.

  • Actively support industry initiatives to promote balanced and responsible Mining in the Region as a meaningful factor to build value and improve lives

    Your role will consist of

    Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:
    • We work with the Regional Leadership Team to develop and execute a Regional Communication Strategy that support the achievement of the Business Objective.
    • We ensure that the Regional business objectives are consistently cascade into the sites at all levels.
    • We define and align with the Regional and Site teams the communication action plans and priorities for the different sites.
    • We develop and executes the Internal Communications Strategy and plan, in collaboration with the regional and site-based functional leaders.
    • We integrate functional communication messages that support the regional and sites communication strategy, and ensure adequate and timely distribution.
    • We prepare or approve regional communication material such as announcements, newsletters, publications, websites, advertisements, brochures, video, radio, press releases, etc.
    • We provide direction for internal digital communications, including oversight of the company Intranet.
    • We work closely with operating and supporting functions to build a culture that is consistent with the values.
    • We develop and executes the External Communications Strategy and plan, in collaboration with the regional and site-based functional leaders.
    • We develop and implement a critical communications plan passionate about protecting and improving the Company's reputation and image.
    • We support industry initiatives to improve reputation and recognition of Responsible mining
    • We assist management in developing and articulating core "umbrella" themes and messages relevant to the Company's reputation and image.
    • We develop a network and construct collaborative relationships with media outlets, journalist and opinion leaders.
    • We implement capacity building programs (such as media training) to identify and train spokespersons for the Regions and Sites.
    • We maintain effective monitoring of media and web coverage on company activities and issues and develop appropriate responses and proactive initiatives.
    • We work closely with Investor Relations, Legal, Human Resources, Environmental and Social Responsibility, and Operations to assure consistency in the Company's communications efforts.
    • We collaborate closely with the Corporate Communications function to execute global communication initiatives, cascade corporate messages and implement policies, procedures, standard and best practices.


    Your training, skills, and experience checklist

    • Undergraduate degree in Communications, Public Relations or Journalism preferred. Graduate degree a plus.
    • Ten (I0) years or more of corporate/regional or agency communications experience. International and natural resources proven experience a plus.
    • Public sector or NGO experience also a plus.
    • Individual must be willing to take initiative but also work well on teams and with other senior managers.
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English and Spanish. (Other languages like French and Dutch a plus).


    Working Conditions

    • Located in the Miami Regional office.
    • Required to travel to corporate office and operating sites.
