Northern Star Resources Limited (ASX: NST) is a global-scale Australian gold producer with Tier-1 world-class projects located in highly prospective and low sovereign risk regions of Australia and North America. Northern Star's gold mines are all world-class, low-cost, high-grade gold mines, which together have produced over 20 million ounces to date. This large inventory means a further 10 years of mine life visibility ensuring Northern Star has a long future based on its Tier-1 operations of Kalgoorlie, Jundee and Pogo. Since acquiring these operations, Northern Star has been able to significantly extend the mine life and grow the resource base of all of our mines by investing heavily in near-mine and in-mine exploration.

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Systems Support Analyst to join our Pogo operation working a schedule of 14 days on, 7 days off.

The ICT Senior Systems Support Analyst reports to the General Manager, and the primary role is to is to ensure the Company's IT staff at site and IT systems and computing environments are managed and maintained effectively and efficiently to provide maximum service availability and security. The ICT Senior Systems Support Analyst also assists with providing support to users, desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and common software applications used across all business units.

  • Ensure maximum availability, performance, and reliability of IT systems throughout Northern Star in compliance with the Information Technology Policy.
  • Evaluate business processes and procedures and identify opportunities for technology improvements.
  • Hands on management of IT and communication system operations to include connectivity issues, installing and maintaining equipment, monitoring and reporting operational status, backups and disaster recovery.
  • Provision and support IT systems including desktop and server applications, hosted applications, databases, network, telephone, and IT security systems.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement IT, communication and data solutions.
  • Advise Northern Star staff and contractors on IT security best practices and ensure compliance with the Information Technology Policy.
  • Maintain up to date monitoring of dashboards and hardware and software registers.
  • Monitor the IT Service Desk and ensure that support incidents are dealt with in a timely manner, and support incidents are escalated to IT management when required.
  • Ensure that decommissioned equipment is secured, and data is destroyed as per the Data Management Standard.
  • Ensure that passwords for network and security equipment and applications is maintained in the IT password management system.
  • Work with site operational managers to ensure that Operational Technology systems comply with the Operational Technology Policy.
  • Manage IT vendors and costs associated with IT hardware, software, and services.
  • Manage project for IT systems.
  • Work with ICT Coordinator to develop the annual site IT budget.
  • Other duties as assigned

Working a 14 day on, 7 day off rotating schedule of days and nights, up to 12 hours a day or more at a remote campsite. Extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.

Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, internet & cable tv programs. Cell service is available when using Wi-Fi. The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction and Tok, Alaska.



  • Degree majoring in computer studies from a recognised tertiary institution or demonstrated equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting IT system infrastructure, and 3 years relevant experience in the mining industry.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills in a variety of information and communication systems.
  • Microsoft and VMware certifications or demonstrated equivalent work experience in large multi-site network environments.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • ITIL certification and or experience working within an ITIL framework is desirable.
  • Current Driver's License.
  • Be able to pass a background check and post offer physical.


Driver's license is required.

MSHA certificate preferred.


  • Experience implementing, operating, and supporting large multi-site IT environments, including Windows Server, SCCM, SQL, Active Directory, backups and disaster recovery, Terminal Services, VMware, Office 365, Azure, and security services.
  • Knowledge and experience in supporting network systems (Cisco routing and switching, wireless connectivity, firewalls, VOIP, VPN, and network monitoring tools).
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain or exceed best industry practice in implementing and supporting IT systems.
  • Able to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment to deliver results.
  • Initiative to recommend and implement new solutions to improve performance or reliability, reduce costs and increase security.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, confidentiality and attention to detail.

OTHER: Must pass a post offer physical and drug test, as well as background check.
