Northern Star (Pogo) LLC have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Marketing / External Affairs Intern, supporting our world-class Pogo operation in Alaska.

What's the role?

The Intern - External Affairs reports to the Manager of External Affairs, and the primary role includes assisting with coordination and execution of Marketing efforts. This includes other tasks/projects under guidelines and procedures set out by the Manager - External Affairs, within the External Affairs Department.

Duties include:

  • Creating professional quality infographics, dashboards and presentations for internal and external communications
  • Sponsorship asset coordination for events such as Golden Days, Tanana Valley State Fair, Alaska State Fair and others as determined by the Manager - External Affairs
  • Procurement of merchanidse for fundraisers and events
  • Strategy and design of annual social media calendar
  • Marketing campaign coordination
    • Photography
    • Design
    • Coordination and placement of marketing efforts


What are we looking for?

You'll be a highly self motivated individual who will display behaviour consistent to our Northern Star Values of Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Respect and Results, looking to work with the business for the long term and be an integral part in its future growth and development.

The specifics:

  • Progressing towards a Communications, Public Relations or Marketing Degree from a recognized university
  • Computer Literacy - Microsoft Office, Adobe, Photo Editing Software
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices
  • Must pass a post offer physical and drug test, as well as a background check.


The Details:

Working a flexible 5 days per week schedule of days, this position will have require afterhours event attendance at times, some travel to events or to the Pogo Mine Site but, is primarily based out of our office in Fairbanks. Extreme conditions, including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.
