The Nuna Group of Companies is now accepting resumes for a Mining Engineer/Mine Planner with large earthworks construction projects experience.

This position is located on our project site located near Timmins /Gogama Ontario (Northern Ontario)

Job Duties:
  • Review conceptual, mine design and project work for accuracy, feasibility, and degree of completion;
  • Coordinate all tasks associated with the Open Pit mines including short, medium, and long term mine design and planning, ground control and drilling/blasting;
  • Use the Clients' monthly mine plans (long range) and cut into poly's for short range mining/blasting
  • Calculate volumes.
  • Overlay blast design grids and adjust hole layout as needed.
  • Re-design as required for ore/waste contact zones.
  • Calculate and report blast volumes using survey data.
  • Calculate and report over burden volumes from survey data.
  • Produce blast design for survey layout.
  • Report all hauled materials and productivities.
  • Produce and evaluate multiple scenarios of mine plans, schedules, and capital plans with multiple, competing constraints to determine optimal path forward;
  • Ensure all designs are evaluated to ensure that any hazards to workers, the public, the environment or the integrity of the mine, will be minimized through project design parameters;
  • Ensure regulatory, corporate and site safety and environmental standards are being followed;
  • Participate in budgeting process, specifically, in terms of quantity and cost estimations for labor, equipment and consumables arising from mine planning;
  • Interacts with mine geologists, geotechnical engineers and other discipline specialist for the required inputs to mine design and mining engineering;


Qualifications :
  • Bachelor's degree in Mining or Civil Engineering;
  • Current Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) status in Ontario, Canada is an asset;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an open pit mine;
  • Good basic knowledge of mine planning and design;
  • Good knowledge of ground control, and drilling and blasting;
  • Experience with Datablast software is required.
  • Knowledge of other mine planning software such as Minescape, Minex, Surpac, Deswik, Autocad, Promine, Minesite, Gemcom is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Power Point and Word;
  • JD Edwards and SharePoint software experience is a definite asset,
  • Hold a valid driver's license;
  • Ability to work in a team environment in a multicultural environment;
  • Versatility and flexibility in terms of tasks;
  • Demonstrate autonomy and resourcefulness;
  • Exemplary attitude at all times towards health and safety;
  • Good written and oral communication skills both written and verbal.

  1. Be proficient in English, both verbally and written.
  2. Have a valid Class 5 Driver's License.
  3. Eligible to work for any employer in Canada.
  4. Resides within Canada.
