Role

Serve as the engineering leader and technical expert for the design and construction of the Project. The Project Engineering Manager plans and directs all design engineers and technical engineers working on the project. This position manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex designs, and oversees engineering in construction and testing to ensure completion of projects as efficiently and effectively as possible. Evaluates and approves changes that substantially impact the scope, budget, or schedule of a project. Additionally, the Project Engineering Manager monitors progress and performance against the project plan and provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.

The position reports to the Sr. Project Director. The position may require travel to various project and work sites based on business needs.

Responsibilities

o Lead a team of discipline engineers

o Manage the ongoing engineering activities of the EPCM and other engineering service providers

o Answer questions and resolve issues brought forth by the engineering team members

o Create detailed engineering plans, processes, and procedures for engineering staff to use and abide by

o Propose and oversee budgets and timelines for engineering projects and the construction of the project

o Check and confirm the accuracy of the work performed and the methods used by engineering staff

o Monitor and determine various staffing and training needs

o Communicate and collaborate with other managers, suppliers, and contractors

o Implement planned maintenance system

o Participate in spare parts ordering and must have relationship with key parts suppliers

o Monitor and maintain system of breakdown attendance

o Compile monthly reports

o Maintain accurate engineering records

o Spearhead various research and development initiatives to identify opportunities for new projects and improved processes

Requirements

o Bachelor's Degree in Mineral Processing, Mining Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or relevant degree; Masters or PhD a plus.

o Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience with increasing leadership roles within mining and process operations, and project development and execution.

o Work closely with engineering and project teams.

o Work within an organization that prioritizes a culture of teamwork, safety, and environmental stewardship.

o Positively influence others through collaboration and relationship-development, building rapport with internal and external stakeholders.

o Outstanding communication and organization skills.

o Ability to multi-task and run several projects in parallel, while prioritizing and pursuing critical-path tasks on an accelerating schedule.

o Ability to critically challenge assumptions, "think outside the box", and deliver creative solutions on-time, on-budget, without compromising on quality.

o Be a self-starter: highly motivated, able to work independently, with high energy.

o Familiarity with resource extraction, technical report development, safety programs and implementation, and state and federal permitting.

o Experience with all facets of capital projects leadership including but not limited to engineering design, technical review, financial analysis, strategic planning, project scheduling and execution, contract development and negotiation.

o Demonstrated business and financial acumen to contribute to the broader organization's success required.

o Must have good comprehension of safe operating procedures, safety rules, policies, emergency procedures, and OSHA, MSHA requirements.

o Must have good comprehension of environmental compliance, rules, regulations, reporting, policies, and emergency procedures.

o Familiar with best-in-class QA/QC protocols and safety/risk management standards.
