About the role

We are looking for a 2nd Class Stationary Engineer, to conduct both maintenance and operating activities in multiple, high-pressure plants. The work schedule is 7 days on, 7 days off (days and nights), based in Labrador City, NL.

Reporting to the Supervisor Heat, Steam & Air, and working in this unique role within the Iron Ore Company of Canada in Labrador City, you will be:
  • Working safely in accordance with Rio Tinto safety standards actively participating, and engaging in safety initiatives promoting our "Zero harm" safety culture;
  • Receiving direction from the Supervisor to safety operate the plants;
  • Operating and conducting maintenance on various pumps, heat exchangers, boilers, compressors and vacuum pumps;
  • Performing standard tests on boilers, checking valves and gages for levels, temperatures and pressures;
  • Taking readings of all operating equipment, performing calculations, recording in logs and preparing other reports.

What you'll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team;
  • 2nd Class Power Engineer Certification of Competency
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent;
  • Minimum of a valid Class 5 driver's license;
  • Experience performing maintenance on pressure vessels
  • Consideration will also be given to 3rd Class Power Engineers who are actively pursuing a 2nd Class Power Engineer qualification

Where you'll be working

The Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC) is a leading Canadian producer of iron ore concentrate and iron ore pellets that serves customers worldwide. The company operates a mine, a concentrator and a pelletizing plant in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as port facilities in Sept-àŽles, Quebec. It also operates a 418 kilometer railroad that links the mine to the port.
