About your role

We are looking for a Commissioning Specialist to join our project team delivering the world-class Oyu Tolgoi underground mine in Mongolia. This is a key role within the Owner's team with the responsibility for the safe and timely delivery of the cave Production Infrastructure.

The Commissioning specialist is accountable for providing Commissioning and technical expertise to the EL/HL construction team and is responsible for supporting the coordination of commissioning activities for the relevant SOW's in accordance with the project plans and specifications and to achieve effective performance in accordance with detailed projects and schedules within the designated time frame and budget.

In addition, they will also be responsible for the training and upskilling of the National QA/QC Engineers for future construction works. Expected time frame for transition to occur in 2-3yrs once on boarded.

Working within the Extraction Level/Haulage Level Construction integrated delivery team (mining and construction disciplines) you will be:

· Show outstanding leadership and commitment to HSE and Quality

· Ensure all personnel and contractor staff participate in the identification and elimination of hazards

· Immediately report and assist with the investigation of all incidents

· Develop and implement a commissioning plan in conjunction with the Operational Readiness team to enable a successful handover of the EL/HL Construction works

· Ability to manage and supervise across multiple work fronts and multiple disciplines including subcontractor supervision

· Assist the project schedulers with the sequencing of scope activities and set logic to the schedule

· Attends and provides input to the contractors throughout the process of construction completion turnover to startup, startup turnover to operations, and final turnover .

· Oversees and provides recommendations to priorities and activities of startup work scope.

· Reviews and comments on startup schedules and startup packages to track Startup completion and progress.

· Manages and maintains open communications and relationship with contractor and equipment commissioning team.

· Reviews and comments on startup procedures as required.

· Reviews and comments on plans and startup activities

· Reviews and comments on lockout/tagout (LO/TO) system.

· Monitors and comments on daily activities effecting and involving startup.

· Participates in the monthly contractor management meetings.

· Participates in the weekly site coordination meeting and chairs as necessary.

· Adheres to safety and quality standards as applicable to duties and accountabilities.

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have the following:

· At least 08 years of experience in commissioning / startup experience, with focus on Electrical and mechanical systems used in underground mining.

· Demonstrated knowledge of integration, operation and tuning required to achieve startup success.

· Experienced in dealing with packages related to material handling systems

· Outstanding commitment to HSE and Quality

· Demonstrated ability to work as part of an integrated delivery team;

· Well-developed contract management skills and commercial acumen;

· An ability to work autonomously within a highly complex project delivery environment;

· Experience working in developing countries with exposure in coaching and facilitating skills transfer to nationals

Where you will be working

Oyu Tolgoi is an operating Copper / Gold open pit mine with a brownfields underground mining project. The site is located in the Gobi desert region of Mongolia. The reserves case for the underground project is in the order of 0.5 billion tonnes of ore to be mined from the 95,000 tonnes per day Hugo North Lift 1 (HNL1) panel cave mine with a 20 year operations life. There is also the potential for 3 further block cave districts to increase mine life beyond 100 years.
