About the role

We are looking for a Specialist Logistics to work within the Rio Tinto Marine & Logistics Team (RTL) to coordinate inbound supply chain and logistics with procurement and Site teams across our port(s) and sites to assure business continuity and optimization of end-to-end logistics costs.

This role is a great opportunity to support development and implementation of the Iron Ore Supply Chain Optimisation project. Reporting to the Principal Supply Chain & Logistics, you will:
  • Coordinate supply chain and logistics processes with various internal and external stakeholders to assure business continuity and optimization of end-to-end logistics costs
  • Track inbound logistics operational and financial key performance indicators.
  • Collect and analyse data, prepare, formalize and communicate short-term logistics plans.
  • Profile logistics spend base, identify constraints and inefficiencies, analyse Shipping & logistics market and factors influencing costs.
  • Liaise with shipping lines, vessel operators, procurement and warehousing teams to support delivery of inbound products
  • Identify critical actions required to deliver logistics plans, analyse and recommend solutions for scheduling issues.

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • Strong commercial, analytical, planning and technical skills related to shipping and logistics activities
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills
  • Proactive approach to problem solving
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Experience working in the resource industry or shipping lines would be advantageous
