About the role

We are looking for a Junior DevOps Engineer to work with a diverse team supporting and developing our cloud-based Enterprise Data Lake Platform. You will be working with a strong team with a blend of developer, business analyst and operations support roles.

Reporting to the Manager Data Integration, this role provides a chance to invest in a team working at the forefront of Big Data analytics platform advancement and an opportunity for substantial skills growth and professional development. You will:
  • As a member of the DevOps team, provide operational support and enable development for the Integrated Data Platform.
  • Collaborate with Users and Ops/DevOps/Dev resources to ensure the dependability of the platform in line with business requirements.
  • Support Incident Management, Request Fulfillment, Access Management and Problem Management.
  • Maintain and monitor platform health check and alerting systems in order to minimise time to detect and time to mitigate degradation of service.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders in order to provide effective and sustainable customer support.

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • Technical mindset and strong problem-solving skills
  • Inquisitive nature and collaborative approach
  • Cloud platform certification relating to integration and infrastructure pathways (e.g. DevOps, Operations, Developer, etc.)
  • Sound understanding of DevOps methodologies
  • Understanding of Public Cloud serverless infrastructure, CI/CD tooling and DevOps deployment practices
  • Good customer facing interpersonal skills

It will be beneficial if you have the following:
  • Knowledge of Container management, Linux system Admin and SQL/Relational Database Admin
  • Knowledge of DevOps integration tools e.g. GitHub, Azure DevOps
  • Understanding of software delivery best practices
  • Good communication and written documentation skills
  • Knowledge of Agile practices
  • ITIL accreditation

Where you will be working

Rio Tinto Information Systems and Technology supports systems and personnel in global locations with three primary hubs of operation. This role is based in Brisbane with key responsibilities for stakeholder engagement across the global enterprise. You will be working from home and from the office location in Brisbane CBD.
