We are looking for a Rail Station & Yard Planner to plan weekly activities in order to achieve the sector's objectives, including cost reduction and improvement of the quality of services to internal and external customers, jointly with the supervisors concerned. The role is based in Labrador City, NL and working on a Monday to Friday schedule.

Reporting to the Superintendent Rail Operations and working in an exciting and unique environment within IOC Railway & Port Operations, you will be:
  • Maximize the efficiency of the systems in place, ensure workforce planning and availability and enforce compliance.
  • Take operational measures to optimize railcar loading or unloading in terms of deadlines and costs, in collaboration with the Station Supervisor on duty.
  • Guarantee honest, compliant, quality service for all QNS&L Railway customers.
  • Be the resource person for everything concerning rate document application and compliance.
  • Supervise the customers entering the QNS&L Station site so that the internal standards and policies are respected.
  • Control the internal billing process.
  • Work in collaboration with the Engineering Department for the development of new projects and tracking of ongoing projects.
  • Carry out several parallel tasks at various planning stages, such as ordering and tracking material, deadlines, Gantt charts, workforce hiring and planning.
  • Also ensure compliance with the different government and corporate regulations.
  • Ensure that all activities are performed in a manner that meets the strictest safety standards.
  • Obtain the necessary certifications under the Transport Canada regulations related to the station's activities.

What you'll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Diploma of College Studies in a field related to transportation and/or logistics or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or any other occupational experience considered relevant.
  • At least 2 years of work experience in industry;
  • Proficiency in English. French language skills are an asset;
  • Knowledge of the various software of the Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license;
  • Ability to collaborate with others;
  • Good ability to adapt and learn, as well as ease in managing personal stress;
  • Experience in management of railway-related operating or maintenance activities is an important asset. Knowledge of railway operating or maintenance activities a major asset.
  • Personnel management and project management experience are assets.
