We are looking for an Emergency Services Specialist to ensure enforcement of site standards and regulations, protection of assets, emergency response and medical aid services while promoting and facilitating a systematic approach to emergency based management. The role is based in Labrador City, NL and working on a shift schedule for the 18 month fixed-term.

Reporting to the Emergency Services Superintendent and working in an exciting and unique environment with the Security Operations team, you will be:
  • Provide security and emergency response services such as fire, ambulance, and rescue, as well as the enforcement of site safety standards and regulations (i.e. traffic rules, site access).
  • Ensure Emergency Management resources (People, Equipment, Policies, Procedures, Standards and Plans etc.) meet the needs of the business based on Emergency Risk Management principles, legislative requirements and moral obligations.
  • Ensure Emergency Response Team 'basic' and 'skills maintenance training' is carried out according to plan and meets any specific local requirements.
  • Act as company liaison between site team and community based emergency response teams.
  • Maintain the Emergency Services & Security Department's policies, procedures, standards and plans.
  • Deliver projects on time according to the Health & Safety emergency management business improvement plan
  • Be able to lead risk assessments on Rescue Plans, BRRP rescue plans, and emergency plans
  • Use the Lean process to measure the leading and lagging indicators for the Emergency Services & Security team performance.
  • Be an active member in the BRRP Program

What you'll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Class 4 Driver's Licence
  • Valid Emergency Medical Responder Certificate

It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • Experience in a leadership role
  • Primary Care Paramedic
  • Provincial Medical Oversight (PMO) Certification
  • Underground Mine Rescue experience
  • Experience with Firefighting (preference given to NFPA 1001 certifications)
