The Opportunity

We are looking for a Millwright to be residentially based in Salt Lake City, Utah, to join the Asset Management team at the Kennecott Refinery. This role will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, replacing, installing, adjusting, and maintaining mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment and system in accordance with all relevant codes and standards to improve performance and minimize downtime.

Rio Tinto Kennecott is a fully integrated mining operation located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, US. Kennecott is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rio Tinto. For more than 110 years, Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich orebody of the Bingham Canyon Mine. What the role entails

This role is a great opportunity for someone with experience in inspecting, repairing, replacing, installing, adjusting, and maintaining mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment and systems. Reporting to the Supervisor Maintenance, you will be:
  • Recognizing malfunctioning equipment and diagnosing problems
  • Dismantling, cleaning, fabricating, repairing, replacing, lay out, installing, maintaining, assembling, adjusting, and lubricating all types of mechanical, plumbing and piping equipment
  • Working in Refinery or field, operating mobile, stationary and other plant equipment to facilitate installation & repair work; perform rigging; driving mobile equipment.
  • Maintain appropriate service and repair records and reports
  • Read and follow blue prints, drawings and schematics
  • Order parts, and equipment


What you will need for this role

To succeed in this role, you will have:
  • High School diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum of 4 years of maintenance work experienced in an industrial environment


It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • Industrial mechanical craftsman experience or Millwright Certification
  • Pump rebuild and alignment experience
  • Hydraulic experience
  • Pipefitting experience
  • Welding Skills
