We are looking for Administrative Assistant to join the Mine Operations Dept. to provide a range of support services including document preparation, data entry, customer service, payroll, scheduling of workforce, training records, and other related duties.

Reporting to the Mine Operations Superintendent, and working a 7 x 7 (day shift) rotation, you will:
  • Work safely in accordance with Rio Tinto safety standards actively engaging in safety initiatives and promoting our "Zero harm" safety culture;
  • Perform data entry to ensure accurate information is promptly captured in appropriate information systems.
  • Accurately maintain manpower, overtime and records.
  • Establish and maintain office filing systems, files and records; assemble information upon request; direct other employees in file maintenance procedures.

What you'll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team;
  • Diploma or Certificate in Business Administration, and high school diploma (or equivalent)
  • Proficient in MS Office applications and SAP
  • Minimum of a valid Class 5 Provincial Driver's License
  • Ability to work cooperatively and productively with others to achieve results.
  • Effective organization, prioritization, and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Experience with workforce scheduling, in a unionized environment, is an asset

Where you'll be working

The Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC) is a leading Canadian producer of iron ore concentrate and iron ore pellets that serves customers worldwide. The company operates a mine, a concentrator and a pelletizing plant in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as port facilities in Sept-àŽles, Quebec. It also operates a 418 kilometer railroad that links the mine to the port.
