About the role

We are looking for an experienced community engagement professional with communications experience to source and advise on community investment strategies within our Here for Gladstone program. As Executive Officer, you will coordinate the Here for Gladstone Advisory Committee made up of company and community representatives. This role also supports key communications pieces that enable the growth of a positive reputation of our Gladstone assets and support Gladstone wide initiatives and consistency across our operations.

This is a great opportunity to align the delivery of community investment and social impact with operational goals. Your strong personal and written communication skills will be key to supporting strong relationships with local community leaders, internal stakeholders and influencers.

Based in Gladstone and reporting to the Manager Communities & Social Performance Gladstone, you will:
  • Manage the $1.5million community investment budget in Here for Gladstone including project design and partnership management
  • Continue to build and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with a range of stakeholders, community leaders/organisations and local government groups
  • Support the marketing and communications strategy for promotion and awareness of Here for Gladstone
  • Lead and execute key operational communication and engagement strategies across Here for Gladstone
  • Perform executive roles such as administering board papers, coordinating board meetings, developing partnership agreements, tracking and monitoring performance and general administrative duties
  • Engage and work closely with site leaders to embed Here for Gladstone programs and seek input
  • Social risk identification and management
  • Support the Leader and leadership team with key messages and information relating to communities for internal and external use
  • Ensure alignment to Standards and Rio Tinto Governance and Assurance requirements

What you'll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Experience working with communities in a community engagement position
  • Qualification in Community Engagement, Public Relations, or similar
  • Solid stakeholder management skills to communicate with various stakeholders
  • Strong written communication and presentation skills

It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • Previous experience working community boards or committees
  • Experience working in an industrial site or resources industry would be advantageous
