About the role

We are looking for a Heavy Mobile Equipment Advisor responsible for effectively administering the HME agreements that have been put in place to guarantee operating cost and performance of the HME fleet to ensure maximum mechanical availability within predetermined costs.

This is a great opportunity for an individual with a good understanding of logistical warehousing and maintenance best practices to work with a cross-functional team and manage our HME components to maximize the maintenance department efficiency.

Reporting to the Superintendent, Mobile Maintenance, located at Lac de Gras Mine Site, you will working 12 hours per day shift on a 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off rotational schedule in the interim (alternating night shift and day shift) with the potential that this changes to a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation in the future, once the COVID-19 pandemic normalizes. You will be responsible for:
  • Manage a team of parts technicians for weekly and major overhaul parts staging
  • Track and Manage core, warranty and consignment inventory
  • Manage shipping/logistics for warranty/cores and perform the RFQ/PR/PO process from start to finish
  • Responsible to approve rebuild costs and define rebuild/purchase new limits for optimal return on investments.
  • Quarterly meetings with the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to ensure constant communication
  • Schedule long-range major equipment component change outs
  • Prepare budget forecasts related to HME agreements
  • Liaise with inventory controller to adjust warehouse holdings and reduce working capital

What you'll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team;
  • Mechanical or heavy equipment training or trade certification;
  • 5-10 years as a maintenance/warehouse/logistics leadership position with focus on long range planning;
  • Working knowledge of SAP logistics and contract/warranty management is preferred;
  • An engineering degree from a recognized post-secondary institution is preferred;
  • At least five years of experience with mining equipment and maintenance planning;
  • Five or more years of reliability engineering, heavy equipment maintenance, and/or HME contract administration experience is preferred.

Northern residency and experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the North, are assets. Hiring priority will be given to qualified applicants who are beneficiaries of the DDMI Participation Agreement Groups and to qualified applicants residing in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut Territories.
