The Opportunity

We are looking for a Specialist Management Accountant to act as a business advisor, to influence and provide meaningful analysis in the decision making process.

Rio Tinto is a global leader in aluminium, one of the world's most widely used metals. What the role entails

This role is a great opportunity for a self-starter to gain exposure to site operations and to liaise with senior leadership teams. Reporting to the Finance Business Partner you will be:
  • Supporting operational leaders to analyse commercial opportunities
  • Providing monthly cost analysis to key customers.
  • Preparing and analysing divisional annual plan and forecasts.
  • Actively seeking continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Engaging with site personnel to increase business acumen across the business whilst ensuring controls are adhered to.
  • Attending and preparing for key monthly meetings with leadership teams at site.
  • Overseeing the preparation of monthly results.

What you will need for this role

To succeed in this role, you will have:
  • Bachelor of Business/Commerce or equivalent in Accounting with management accounting experience.
  • Ability to engage, influence and support multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong background in identifying and seeing through continual improvement opportunities.

It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • CA or CPA qualification and SAP experience.
  • Exposure to the warehouse, mining, process or industrial environment with inventory management experience.
  • Worked with offshore and centralised service providers.

In the picturesque location on the edge of the Arafura Sea lies the unique mining town of Nhulunbuy. The operation is situated on extensive deposits of high grade bauxite; a burnished red ore with high aluminium oxide content. The town caters for comfortable living with many established amenities available including schools, a hospital, local pool and daily flights from Darwin and Cairns. The surrounding area contains outstanding fishing and camping opportunities as well as the town itself containing excellent sporting facilities and an engaged and diverse community. Considered by many to be the best remote mining town, there is something for everyone.
