About the role

We are looking for a Welding Supervisor in Dampier to be the subject matter expert for all welds on site.

This is a great opportunity for a technical welding expert to use their technical knowledge to impart onto the next generation of welders at Rio Tinto.

Reporting to the Superintendent Planning, Scheduling and Workshop and working a challenging and exciting environment, you will be:
  • Responsible but not limited to ensuring that all work is completed to the required specifications and Australian Standards (AS1554) and Customer Specifications (SS-C111)
  • Be managing, implementing, and monitoring quality systems
  • Training and qualifying welding personnel
  • Supervising/conducting inspections of welding activities
  • You will ensure all NDT requirements follow relevant standards and specifications
  • Organise and document material and weld traceability data

What you'll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Current WTIA Structural Steel Welding Supervisor qualification to AS 2214 or alternatively AS1796 Cert 10
  • Qualification as a Boilermaker and/or Certified Welder to AS1796 in at least one of Cert 3E to 8
  • Good written communication skills with the ability to prepare reports, procedures and work instructions for site based and workshop personnel
  • The ability to communicate effectively and work with others
  • Sound computer skills including MS Word and MS Excel
  • Willingness to learn and a commitment to continuous improvement principles
  • Previous experience dealing with SAP will be highly regarded
