We are looking for an experienced Health & Safety Specialist to join our Health, Safety & Emergency Services team supporting our Iron Ore Operations. Within this role, you will use your technical knowledge and interpersonal skills to effectively partner with operations and other key stakeholders to lead regional based projects and provide operations support.

Reporting to the Superintendent Health, Safety and Emergency Services and working in a collaborative community, you will be:
  • Committed to promoting a safe culture in line with Rio Tinto safety standards within the department and across the operation;
  • Progress the operation through the safety maturity continuum;
  • Leading improvement initiatives for the operation directly related to health and safety;
  • Be a key influencer within the site senior leadership team;
  • Be the risk champion and governance for health and safety risks;
  • Managing a robust internal compliance overview with targeted first party assurance of risks and control monitoring systems and practices;
  • Driving innovation through performance analysis, data insights and alignment across resources and improvement works;
  • Fostering close relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Driving continuous improvements projects through innovation and technology.

What you'll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Experience partnering with teams to provide technical support and drive performance;
  • Experience working in an operational health and safety role, coupled with a passion for, and sound knowledge of health and safety;
  • Tertiary Health and Safety Qualification;
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects and mitigation strategies;
  • Ability to work autonomously and independently under pressure, with reliability and accuracy.
