We are looking for Operator Maintainer for the Tailings Processing Operations team who can be highly motivated, adapt to changing situations and priorities, interact well with others and demonstrate the ability to both work independently and to contribute effectively within a team. You will be trained as a Tailings Processing Operator, and in time, progress into a Heavy Equipment Operator role within the Tailings team. The work schedule begins as Monday to Friday (8 hour days), and on requirement, transition to a 12-hour shift schedule with 7 on 7 off rotation (days and nights).

Reporting to the Processing Operations Supervisor - Tailings and working in an exciting and unique environment within the Iron Ore Company of Canada, you will be:
  • Work safely through appropriate behaviours and adherence to IOC safety standards.
  • Safely operate the tailings processing facility
  • Keep work area safe, clean and well maintained. Take timely action to correct unsafe work conditions in the work area.
  • Be responsible for the proper operation, maintenance, and control of equipment to ensure production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.
  • Communicate and coordinate Tailings plant operations with the Operations Centre and Concentrator teams.
  • Communicate all unresolved safety and process deficiencies to the supervisors involved.
  • Provide feedback to supervisors regarding equipment performance.
  • Maintain a continuous improvement focus by developing and participating in implementation of appropriate solutions to eliminate the issues/problems identified in the work area.
  • Challenge the way the work is done.

What you'll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team;
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent;
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license;
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience with heavy equipment or in an industrial environment, mine tailings operations experience is preferred;
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience operating wheel loaders, crawlers, or excavators;
  • Active participation in company safety systems and initiatives, and a proven safe work record resulting from a proactive approach to safety;
  • Contributions to improvement ideas and solutions in the workplace;
  • A highly flexible approach to work;
  • Team membership skills including the ability to work well in a team environment;
  • A valid Crane Operations/Boom Truck certificate is an asset.
