About the role

We are looking for an Reliability Engineer Signal + Systems - Rail to be part of the Regional Rail Engineering Team at Dampier. You will improve asset reliability and cost through reliability analysis and the delivery of reliability improvement on track assets across RTIO rail network.

This role is a great opportunity for an expert in Root Cause Analysis and Site maintenance tactics for track to join our diverse and technical team of experts. Reporting to the Superintendent Reliability Engineering, you will be:
  • Responsible for Defect Elimination process - Identify defects, conducts high-level root cause analysis & manage the engineering project portfolio for Signal, Systems and Communications assets.
  • Participates, Facilitates and improves site MTBFand MTTR by using rail system reliability modelling and RCA process.
  • Participates, Facilitates and improves site RCA processes for Signal & Systems Assets.
  • Conducts high level root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Analyses primary/secondary maintenance tasks (PM01/PM02) to improve asset reliability & cost.
  • Conducts reliability analysis and interprets unscheduled loss (UL) / cost data via PM03.
  • Work closely with Area Superintendent to support execution success in Signal, Systems and Communications.
  • Conducts reliability analysis and interprets failures or unscheduled loss/cost data
  • Work closely with Area Superintendent to support execution by identify defects in signals maintenance management.
  • Support the Rio Tinto Rail Signal, Systems and Communications execution team with change management, asset management and troubleshooting skills

What you'll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • Bachelor of Engineering Electrical & Electronics
  • Relevant engineering experience in railway engineering standards, Signal, Systems and Communications projects, maintenance & renewal, reliability practices etc.
  • Confident in leading all systems engineering activities for train control, railway signalling, wayside systems, condition monitoring and associated communications systems in compliance with relevant standards and procedures.
  • Strong facilitation, stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • RCA and problem-solving techniques
  • Understanding of project management principles
  • Understanding of the data analytical tools: Matlab, Power BI, SAP, SQL, Spotfire etc.
  • C Class Driving Licence
  • Understanding rail safe operating procedures.

Where you'll be working

You will be based in the heart of coastal town Karratha and operating out of the close by town of Dampier. Our port facilities consist of four shipping terminals located on the Pilbara coast at Dampier and Cape Lambert which form an essential part of our logistics process. Each terminal has facilities for train unloading, iron ore stockpiling, product blending and ship loading.
