We are looking for a Supervisor to play a critical role in leading a team of HME maintainers to meet safety, productivity and operational objectives.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong work ethic and a 'can do' attitude to lead an operational team towards achieving our production and safety targets.

Leading on the frontline is one of the most important jobs in our business and comes with a huge amount of responsibility. We need you to motivate, inspire and keep your people safe and well.

Reporting to the Superintendent HME Maintenance and working in a challenging and exciting environment, you will be:
  • Leading a HME maintenance team to effectively and efficiently quality maintenance on time and within budget.
  • Managing internal and external stakeholders by developing, promoting and maintaining positive relationships and by consistent provision of quality customer service
  • Ensuring all works are planned and carried out in an environmentally and culturally sensitive manner by complying with Rio Tinto's policies and procedures
  • Providing a safe work environment and promote a 'Zero Harm by Choice' culture by always role modelling all aspects of safe work in accordance with Rio Tinto Policies and Procedures

What you will bring
  • 3+ years' formal leadership experience in a HME Maintenance environment (or similar)
  • Solid, demonstrated knowledge of work management practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Computer literacy including exposure to SAP and Microsoft applications

Where you will be working

Our Weipa Operations includes three bauxite mines, processing facilities, ship loaders, an export wharf, two ports, power stations, a rail network and ferry terminals. Located on the Western Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland, each year the operation produces more than 35 million tonnes of bauxite.

Our operations are supported by a 1,900-strong workforceincluding 26 per cent who are women and 25 per cent Indigenous employees. Activities include mine operations, maintenance, asset management, ports, cultural heritage management, and processing facility management.

The development of our new mine, Amrun, which was completed in 2018, will extend the life of our Weipa bauxite operations by decades to come and significantly build on our 55-year history on the Western Cape.
