Health and Safety Advisor Gove, Northern Territory
We are looking for a Health and Safety Advisor to provide dedicated health and safety support to the Operations and Closure teams at Gove. The role will also partner with contractors to support the safe delivery of services and projects.

Our portfolio includes four bauxite mines, two refineries, four smelters and one power station, and is supported by technical experts located in our Brisbane hub, including a fully operational Operations Centre for our bauxite mines.

Working in a challenging and exciting environment as a valued member of the Gove HSE Team, you will:
- Educate, communicate and engage with site leaders, operational personnel and Rio Tinto HSE groups
- Analyse data and ensuring compliance with the Rio Tinto Health and Safety standards and legislative requirements
- Support and participate in the investigations to prevent repeat incidents occurring
- Work across the health and safety function to support the standardisation and simplification of systems and processes
- Recommending key control methods (considering the hierarchy of control) for health and safety risk reduction and evaluate control effectiveness
- Participate in and facilitate risk register reviews
- Support the delivery of strategic safety initiatives
- Lead and support business wide health and safety improvement initiatives
- Conduct health and safety assurance and governance activities
- Work with contractor partners to support safe delivery of projects in alignment with the Rio Tinto Health and Safety Management System
What you'll bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself your team and community
- Tertiary or certificate qualification in health, safety, engineering or related field
- Operational experience in the application of Health and Safety systems.
- Experience in supporting the safe delivery of operational and maintenance related projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently but effectively in a cross functional team
- Excellent influencing and engagement skills
- Preferable a manual driver's license.
