Procurement Specialist: Maintenance Contract Labour
  • Manage the Maintenance Contract Labour Category for the East Coast region in support of Rio Tinto Aluminium
  • Exposure to a range of senior stakeholders working closely to build constructive relationships

We are looking for a Procurement Specialist (Maintenance Contract Labour) to lead and be the key point of contact to support Rio Tinto Aluminium with respect to the Maintenance Labour category. The role reports to the Procurement Principal Advisor - Fixed Plant Maintenance (based in Perth) and requires a procurement professional with experience in category strategy development/implementation and supplier relationship management. The role interfaces with a broad range of senior stakeholders within Rio Tinto Procurement and Rio Tinto Aluminium and works in collaboration with category team members and other internal stakeholders including operations, asset management, human resources and finance.

The role requires a resilient and self-motivated individual and is a great opportunity for someone who has strategic acumen coupled with strong influencing and communication skills. In this role you will:
  • Work collaboratively with the business to develop and implement opportunities and solutions that deliver value to the organisation.
  • Proactively seek and analyse information and intelligence from the market in order to develop, recommend and implement strategies that meet the needs of the business through the supply of contract labour.
  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure alignment on contract context, key contractual terms and implications of decisions on value extraction.
  • Develop and implement supplier performance management plans for the key contract partners.
  • Monitor and evaluate contract/supplier performance against expected outcomes and work with suppliers and internal stakeholders to improve and maintain performance.
  • Travel to Rio Tinto Aluminium sites as required to engage with internal stakeholders and suppliers.

What you'll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will ideally have:
  • A strong commitment to safety
  • A background in strategic procurement, contract law, supply chain management, with a business/commercial qualification being highly desirable
  • Experience in labour contracts / knowledge of labour supply markets
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High level of interpersonal and influencing skills with experience in stakeholder management
  • High level of commercial acumen with a strategic mindset
  • Experience in business process improvement and change management
  • Advanced skills with the Windows environment, including use of the MS Office suite of products and ideally SAP or an equivalent ERP
  • CIPS Certificate or Diploma in Purchasing or Supply is highly desirable
